Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

Chinese herbs are often used in conjunction with acupuncture for added therapeutic effect. While many cultures have herbal medicine traditions, the sophistication of Chinese herbal medicine is unsurpassed. Chinese herbal medicine has a long history reaching back several thousand years, and the resulting system is now used to support you opposing in a variety of illnesses you may encounter from anxiety to the common cold to chronic illness.

Chinese Herbal Formulas combine several herbs into one medicinal substance. Most of the formulas are hundreds, if not thousands, of years old. The traditional formulas have been tested over time to be safe and effective when prescribed appropriately.  The pulse and tongue observations I make during the appointments help ensure an herbal formula is appropriate for you.

Chinese Herbal Formulas are never just one herb because the herbs work together in combination to either enhance a function of an herb or to mitigate side effects. For example, if one herb in a formula is known to be difficult to digest, an herb that helps digestion will be in the formula so that there will not be stomach upset.

Herbs work like mini-acupuncture treatments each time you take them and help to restore balance to your body. This is why it is important to be consistent in taking your herbs. The optimal effects of the herbs are observed with time and consistent use.

It is very important to tell me about all the medications and supplements you are currently taking so that we can avoid any unwanted interactions with your formula.
